Chichibu Ichiro’s Malt Double Distilleries

Ichiro’s Malt Double Distilleries blends single malts from Chichibu and the now‑closed Hanyu distillery, founded by Ichiro Akuto’s grandfather. Ichiro rescued Hanyu’s remaining casks before establishing Chichibu in 2008, creating this expression as a tribute to his family’s legacy and Japanese whisky craftsmanship. 

This blended malt brings together Chichibu’s youthful, fruit‑driven spirit—aged in Mizunara oak—and deeper, sherry‑matured whisky from Hanyu. The marriage was crafted in 2010 at Chichibu itself. The nose opens with pear, melon, honey and floral notes; the palate offers spiced orchard fruits, caramel and layered dried fruits with a hint of gentle tannin; the finish features lingering sweet spice and incense.
