The Macallan 12 Year Old Double Cask

The distillery is especially known for its pioneering approach to oak cask maturation, using high-quality sherry-seasoned oak barrels that impart rich flavours and complexity.

The Macallan 12 Year Old Double Cask is matured in a combination of American and European oak casks, seasoned with Oloroso sherry from Jerez, Spain. This maturation process imparts a harmonious balance of flavors, with the American oak contributing sweetness and the European oak adding depth and spice. The whisky offers aromas of creamy butterscotch, toffee apple, candied orange, vanilla custard, and newly felled oak. On the palate, it presents wood spices like ginger and nutmeg, citrus, caramel, raisins, and a resinous quality. The finish is warm, sweet, and drying, with lingering oak notes.
