Independent bottler The Heart Cut partners with grassroots distilleries and takes a bold, creative approach to whisky maturation. Their No. 17 release features spirit from Lochlea Distillery, matured in a single ex-Islay cask to impart gentle, cask-derived smoke—despite the whisky itself being unpeated.

Lochlea is a progressive Lowland distillery based in Ayrshire, operating from a farm once worked by Robert Burns. They grow all their own barley and manage every part of production on-site—from field to bottle—creating whiskies that are truly traceable, local, and expressive of place.
